This policy describes what actually happens to your data when you use packyearscalculator.com. In short: your calculator inputs never leave your browser and we set no cookies. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which also provides cookieless page-view statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics). Amazon receives data only if you click an affiliate link.

2. Calculator inputs
Everything you enter (years smoked, cigarettes or packs per day, age, smoking status, pack price) is processed by JavaScript in your browser only. It is not sent to us or anyone else and is not stored after you close the page.
3. What is stored on your device
Your display preferences (dark mode, high contrast) are saved in your browser’s localStorage so the page looks the same next time. This is not a cookie, is never transmitted, and you can delete it by clearing site data in your browser. Storing a preference you chose yourself is permitted without consent as strictly necessary for the service you requested (EU: Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive; Germany: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).
We set no cookies and use no advertising networks or tracking pixels. The only statistics tool is Cloudflare Web Analytics (see section 4), which according to Cloudflare uses no cookies or localStorage.
4. Third parties
Hosting and Cloudflare (CDN). The site is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc. (USA), which acts as a reverse proxy and content delivery network and protects the site against attacks. To do this, Cloudflare and our hosting provider process technical request data such as IP address, time, requested page and browser type. Cloudflare also replaces email addresses on our pages with a short script from our own domain (/cdn-cgi/…) to hide them from spam bots. Cloudflare privacy policy.
Cloudflare Web Analytics. To see how many people visit which pages, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. A script from static.cloudflareinsights.com sends anonymous usage data such as the page visited, the referring page, browser and device type, approximate country and page-load performance. According to Cloudflare, it does not use cookies or localStorage and does not fingerprint or track individual visitors over time. We only see aggregated statistics. About Cloudflare Web Analytics.
Amazon affiliate links. Some pages link to search results on Amazon (marked as affiliate links). Nothing is sent to Amazon unless you click such a link. After you click, Amazon’s own privacy notice and cookies apply; Amazon may record that you came from our site so we can earn a commission. We receive no personal data about you from Amazon. You can block or delete Amazon’s cookies in your browser settings, and manage interest-based ads from Amazon at amazon.com/adprefs. See also our affiliate disclosure.
Other external links (for example to USPSTF, CDC, G-BA or smokefree.gov) lead to sites with their own privacy policies.
Legal bases (EU/EEA visitors)

Transfers to the USA (Cloudflare): Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions).

5. Contacting us
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and delete them when they are no longer needed for that purpose.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR or the California CCPA), you may have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77). 7. Children
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes
If we add or change services that process personal data, we will update this page before doing so and, where required, ask for your consent first.
